lackadaisicalnereidSort of analytical, rarely on the emotional side, sorted by characters, review of the season 3 finale of The Vampire Diaries
Humans:
Matt - I sort of didn't dislike him as much as I usually do; he was almost a bit more interesting; provided some comfort/help to both remaining Gilberts.
Jeremy - Go Jeremy! you are still a tad annoying, but you stood by your sister, even while disliking her decisions. That's awesome. Aaaand I almost cared for what was happening to you.
Bonnie - Bonnie, we might be onto something with you. Sure, it has season 6 Willow written all over it, in bright neon flashing letters, but that doesn't mean it won't be fun. Of course, if part of going dark for Bonnie will mean angry sex with Damon, well, I won't be a fan of that. So, go girl, finally do something for yourself, because you want to, the way you want to. Also, I'm very interested in the details of what exactly's happened with Klaus. (She transported him to Tyler's body, ok. But, what with Klaus's real body now? Is it dead? What with Tyler? Is Tyler dead? ANSWERS ARE NEEDED.) So, lots of magical Flippendo stuff, but I'd like it all explained, thankyouverymuch show.

Kol - you were missed; just wanted to let you know that we still remember you exist. PS: your bro's dead. Maybe you can be a bigger bad now? Or just, you know, keep on with the baseball stuff.
Klaus - I WANT JOSEPH MORGAN HE IS AMAZING there is no Klaus without him. I can already tell you I do not like Trevino as Klaus, no no no. NO. Just, no beautiful accent and no smiles and eyes and everything. Joseph Morgan, I hope for your reappearance.
Rebekah - Rebekah you are suuuuuch a sweeheart (and a revenge-seeking-bitch, but more on that later.) How painfully sad she gets when Klaus is killed. Poor girl, so old and so young, and just looking for love, and now the one who loves her most is dead. Would not want to be her right now, not on the dealing with one sibling less part OR with the entire supernatural squad of Mystic Falls being royally pissed at her for killing their Elena. Rebekah, I sense hard times in store for you. Not even Damon will want to have sex with you now.
Elijah - let me say this one more time. ELIJAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. I love him so much, I cannot even with the lovin. He is amazing, surprising Elena on her doorstep (he should have gotten a real scene with Elena, with eye sex and trust and deals and the whole shebang.) I love how he just says (as to why he wants Klaus's body) "he is my brother" and you can see in Elena's look that she completely understands what he means, not just because of Jeremy, but because of the Salvatore brothership she so greatly fears she'll destroy. And his reaction to Klaus dying was also beautiful, I demand more Rebekah/Elijah scenes in the future, much potential there.
Vampires:
Tyler - Tyler, I do not know what to say. There was a time in season 2 when I DID care about your storyline. I don't now. Not about your relationship with Caroline, not about your sire bond, not even about your death. I am sorry.
Caroline - Caroline, oh Caroline. BEAUTIFUL. The amazing acting that Candice does in the scene where she says goodbye to Tyler, beautifully done. I trully felt for that girl, more than most characters in this oh so dramatic episode. Very sweet to Elena in the beginning (although what is it with her and offering all that alcohol to Elena who's low on blood?) I love how girly and teenage she gets while planning her escape with Tyler, and I am so proud of her when she says she has to help her friends first. Caroline, I am sorry your boyfriend, who I see you love deeply, is dead (maybe?).
Stefan - Hm. Don't really know what to say. He's returned, mostly, to his good old playin the hero arc, and what can I say, I want more. I want him to redeem himself for what he's done, I want him to need Damon to help him, I want Caroline to help him, I want him to feel awful for he's done. And saving Matt? Awesome. Trully awesome. Respecting Elena's wishes, even the one he thinks will be her last.
Damon - Oh, hey. I LOVE YOU. He breaks my heart, I swear he does. Demanding honesty from Elena, and taking it, even when he thinks he's dying. Protecting Rebekah from Alaric and giving her a chance to escape, even though he suspects he will end up dead - amazing. (AND he manages to refer to her as Goldilocks. Never change Damon.) Yelling "No no no no" on the phone? Also amazing. "Our life is one big proverbial coin toss" (How come you always have the best lines Damon?) The most heartbreaking phone conversation ever (trumps Ryan and Marissa, the OC, and that was one sad phone call) with Elena, oh dear. And his FACE OH DEAR LORD HIS FACE. When Alaric dies, and when he comes to the hospital, and when he rants about Jeremy not using the vampires he has at his disposal and OH DEAR IAN, never change.
And of course, our all time favorite, human/doppelganger, recently turned vampire, Elena Gilbert, ladies and gentlemen.

I have no words, honestly. I think there's TONS of things that could have been explored with Elena as a human, but I am also intrigues as to how VampElena will be handled.
