it should not be like this, forever, it should not be just getting daggered and then undaggered and then daggered again, daggers and ashes and blood in your heart and on your hands and apologies only in your brothers' eyes (and sometimes not even there) but almost never in their words and certainly never in their actions. forever's perpetually being late, when the clock's already struck midnight and you're cinderella only you've never really had your glass slippers, well actually you did, if you think really hard about it, only your mother put them away because she was worried you would ruin them, you were 13 and she kissed your forehead and put the slippers on the top of the tallest cupboard in your house and you tried to reach them, didn't you, but nik pulled you down from the chair and whispered something about looking out for his little sister into your ear and be careful so you don't fall.







and for a long time you don't fall, because nik may be a lot of things, but nik's also always there, ready to catch you.
