of course. how didn't they think of that before? not sure if we're supposed to buy that they're dead. probably not. which of course, raises the question, what'd they die for? are they a) completely lunatics, b) died to return as zombies. tbc, obviously.


+ caroline

I cannot even with her being ~kidnapped within the first 10 minutes of the episode. SERIOUSLY SHOW? SERIOUSLY? and now, unpopular opinions time.

loved the hell out of her forest scene with ty!klaus. she figured everything out herself (which, of course she should, my bb, I should have known), she sassed and refused him and thought he was disgusting beyond measure. (of course i ship it, can't you tell?) it wasn't romanticized and THANK GOD there was no rape. plus the forest was just such pretty scenery and caroline is so pretty. klaus/caroline still ftw in my book <3


+ bonnie

Bonnie was good you guys. I mean she still didn't get to do anything but murderously mumble Latin, but she was GOOOOOOD. a big plus, Bonnie, for causing feels.


+ rebekah

Rebekah, you glorious bitch. ALL OF HER SCENES WERE FABULOUS. also I want her and Elena and Damon to become drinking buddies.


+ elena

ok, here it goes. LOVED how they handled the transition. but. i wasn't impressed by it? i think that most of my issues with this episode was that everything (other than caroline/ty!klaus and rebekah(/klaus) was very predictable. dunno, leave me to my thoughts.

so, loved the insane laughing and the bulb breaking and the feeling-her-fangs scene and the jumping Damon scene and the drinking blood scene. But I wasn't really blown away by any of it? Hard to describe.

I lol at Stelena.


+ stefan

Might be interesting. The always-together-forever thing he has going on with Elena looks destines to fail soon, obviously. (are they trying to construct them as puuuurfect, like it happened in season 1, but all over again? the higher you fly, the deeper you go and all that?)


+ damon

Damon you were glorious in your angst. Especially loved him snarking away in the first scene, and well, in all other scenes.



All in all, show. Continue existing.

Also, bring back Kol ♥ ASAP.

ETA: also, BLESS that klaus/rebekah scene. BEST THING EVER. I still ship it. They'll break my heart.

I agree with you on so many things...first

-I liked how they portrayed the transition..I just hated how Elena fed to complete it. Stefan and Rebekah team up to let her drink?? And in such a passive way?? Weird.

-LOVE, LOVE Klaroline..I will ship it..forever.

-DAMON..Best thing of this episode with Michael Trevino playing Klaus...and actual Joseph Morgan

oh. I mean, I was ok with the feeding, well I loved it actually. I see what you mean about the passivity, but I didn't think of it as passive? The most important thing to me about the transition is that SHE chose it herself, without anyone else's interference. She felt she was dying, decided she wouldn't die, and did what she had to do in order not to die. And I loved that.

and I just LOVED stefan and rebekah's interaction. I still ship it :D


i love how cold and snarky she is with him and how she continually tries to get rid of him, but not really, and he always comes back. crazy kids. love their dynamic.


i mean, i'm ok with matt and am curious to see if anything actually happens with him this season.


well, i think rebekah was my favorite thing this episode, but yes, damon was just fabulous. loved the stefan/elena/damon dynamic in the opening scene. and i was surprised by liking trevino as klaus, i thought he'd be awful, but this was VERY good, actually.


the i love you flashback, right? (there weren't any others, right?) well, i loved the scene itself, but i hardly think that will (or that it should) change anything for elena. i would have much preferred (which might still happen) to see her angry with him because he compelled her.

I agree, there wasn't much that surprised me, and virtually nothing about the Elena-Salvatore drama felt original in any way. It was all business as usual.

Basically I agree with nothing, because I disliked most everything? Rebekah remained a glorious, shining blonde-beacon of light throughout the episode. I probably would have enjoyed the Klaus/Bekah if it had been last season? In a masochist sort of way at least. But this time around, I just thought 'ugh. Another season of this.' But maybe this will be the one where they confess their true love idk idk. A girl can dream.

Damon and Stefan do what they always do. Caroline gets kidnapped. Matt makes faces. Seems familiar.

klaus/caroline, as in caroline and klaus kissing with her thinking it's klaus? gross, true. BUT: the whole summer i was sure it would be A LOT WORSE. it sounds awful, i know. but she figured it out quickly, it wasn't dragged along, she still hates his guts because at the end of the day, he's the guy who wants most people she knows dead. i choose to be happy with all of that because i'm comparing it to what i thought we'd get. and it wasn't framed in a way to justify his behavior AT ALL, which definitely would have been the worse thing to do.

but yes, i think if the show never had that kiss at all, everyone would have been better off.

I didn't love the contrived "Bonnie might have enough power to bring Elena back as a human" EXCEPT in that it was a device to bring in Grams and to set into motion what I hope (against all reasonable hope) will be Bonnie's descent into darkness/storyline that doesn't revolve around someone else bossing her around. I liked how the transition was less about willsheorwon'tshe and turned into her potentially being UNABLE to get human blood.

Damon. Pretending to give no fucks Damon is my favorite Damon, I think, and he was in fine form.

Yes. I'm sitting over here shipping all the things ever, so I must be taken with a grain of salt, but I really dig Klaus' infatuation with Caroline and how she is consistently knocking him back down. Trevino played Klaus beautifully (which impresses me more than Matt Davis' turn as Klaus - now that we've seen so much of Joseph Morgan's Klaus, Trevino had more to live up to). And saving Caroline instead of Rebekah does make sense, but I have somewhat mixed feelings. I don't love the idea of setting Caroline as the constant damsal in distress (poor girl gets kidnapped and tortured every other episode), and I'll like it even less if Klaus KEEPS saving her. Regardless of all that, I ship it like burning.

THIS TIMES INFINITY. I didn't giggle at the exploding blood bags until I saw it again and again in gif form - and that shit was ridiculous. It's a testament to how much she was BREAKING MY FUCKING HEART. My love for everything that Rebekah was in this episode hasn't yet reached an acceptable level of coherence.

yes about bonnie. obviously being forced to return klaus to his body wasn't a step forward on her journey to doing things of her choice, but it'll only serve as additional motivation the next time. which is awful, but i do hope we'll get to the point where she REALLY tells everyone else to just go to hell. or she could actually send them to hell, whatever.
