CAN WE PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO APPRECIATE MY NEVER DYING LOVE FOR THAT 2x10 TOMB SCENE?

+ From a ~technical standpoint (lol @ my words) I appreciate the filming of the scene: it starts from Elena running to the tomb and Damon stopping her and at some point moves to Stefan and Katherine listening in from the tomb. WHICH IS AMAZING. Because TVD is set as, here, guys, have Stefan and Elena, they are THE couple. Also, while we're at it, let's have some sexual tension with her and his brother, Damon. In short: THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A STORY ABOUT DAMON/ELENA. And in many ways, it's not: they're in front of the tomb because Elena is here looking for STEFAN. It doesn't have anything to do with Damon. But then this strange thing happens, and suddenly WE, viewers, are LISTENING to the scene happening OUTSIDE, from Stefan's point of view, while the scene continues out of Stefan's reach (=not his story anymore) while Damon is out there with her. HE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THERE. IT'S ALL AN ACCIDENT. And then the show manages to MAKE ME FEEL THAT: it makes me feel like this is NOT STEFAN'S STORY at that moment: it makes me feel like STEFAN FEELS like he is an outsider. AND THAT IS WHY, in my opinion,THAT IS A GLORIOUS SCENE.

THAT SCENE IS A THING OF BEAUTY

It's seriously one of my favorite scenes between them, that and the gorgeous intimidation don't-fuck-with-me-I'll-throw-your-ass-over-my-shoulder earlier scene. FOR ALL THE REASONS YOU STATED SO ELOQUENTLY! It's one of the first instances (I believe) where Damon expresses in deed that he doesn't care if he pisses her off and she hates him, he's simply not going to allow her to be hurt, killed or trapped if he can prevent it. And the beating at his chest and holding her still while Stefan listens to his brother do what he can't - put Elena's safety before absolutely anything else, even her own wishes.

MINE TOOOOOO. IT IS the beginning. OMG you are right, this is where it starts, and then is even MORE obviously foreshadowed in 2x18 with the whole I'll make all the difficult life-death choices. I'll even let her hate me for it. But in the end I'll be the one to keep her alive. that even MORE stressed that, leading inevitable to him feeding her his blood, in one of my also favorite D/E scenes. There must be something wrong with me.

YES. I ADORE THE aesthetics of that scene. And what I love more, is how immediately, Elena leaves, and what do we get? A Stefan/Damon scene. Because they might love Elena, BUT EVERYTHING WILL ALWAYS AND FOREVER BE ABOUT THE TWO OF THEM, ALWAYS.

Plus we get Damon/Snark. of all the idiot plans, Stefan...

This is glorious. Because Damon is now doing to Elena THE WORST THING THAT WAS EVER DONE TO HIM. And Stefan thought he was doing it for love, and a hundred and fifty and some years later, Damon's not learned a thing. NOT A SINGLE THING ABOUT THE WORST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO HIM.
