yo, people of the internet, or more likely: my f-list. i've been thinking and i've decided i want to do SOMETHING ficcy for december. it'll be the end of the year and i occasionally get ~sentimental about all sorts of things in december, so why not celebrate the end of the year with writing fic. i'll elaborate on what i have in mind in the next paragraph, and please, ask any questions in the comments if you have any.

as some of you have noticed, i'm prone to random bursts of organizing ficathons, but i think they attract only some of the people and often end up being the same thing all over again, not that i mind, really, i adore our things but i also thought it might not be bad to mix it up a bit?

if anything from the poll needs clarification, please ask, i'm not sure if anything's at all clear, and i'd REALLY love your input on this, because i'd like to do something for you guys that'll be fun for all of us.

also, if you have some general wishes for fic/december-fic/problems with my past ficathons, say so here, please! (no one ever writes me hermione fic!, there's not enough siblings, i wish someone would write me kate bishop, i wish the fic was longer/shorter/written backwards), anything, really!)

+ i personally really like the idea of finishing drafts in some form, because the list of drafts i have in my folders/evernote/all over the world under rocks is continually growing and i have trouble finishing things these days and some sort of doing-things-together-thing would help me along.

i'd really really REALLY like there to be prompts that either include possibilities for art or are even art specific.

i know that technically i could take any prompt and make it a drawing, but to be very honest the prompts i see are often very abstract and that does not really work for me personally when i'm trying to create something visual. i would need something more of a scene prompt, or a setting or a concrete problem or just anything that is a bit more specific so that i have my starting point and can develop something from there.

i would also appreciate podfic/art prompts in the form of : i love this fic (link) and i would love to be able to listen to it as a podfic/i would love a visual for that scene (it can be kept open too, depending on the left of the fic idk).

of course for anything that's based on somebody else's work it's really important to ask for permission first. so i think there should be a rule about that, in case somebody is new to the podfic game. but basically : prompting goes wild and if somebody wants to snag a prompt they have to make sure to get the okay from the original artist first. which is what you would do for any podfic, whether you get to idea on your own or through someone else's prompt, so i think it should be fine?

anyway, some art prompting would be really great, pleaaaase :)

all of this sounds A++, tbh. i'm always considering delving into podfic and i never really do it and i still sometimes listen to your podfic of marta's piano porn, it's soooooo goood, and i'd like there to be sounds and drawings, and not just words on screens, so all of this sounds great! i can definitely imagine myself requesting art/podfic, and i assume some other people too, and i'll definitely try to make this a part of the thing, and i imagine it won't be a problem ♥

also, yes, i hear you about the problem with abstract prompts, i think it's a problem even with writing, and i can imagine it's worse with drawing

ohmy let me tell you about faking it:

+ it's an MTV show which made me eyeroll at the beginning but apart from being a bit trashy and the acting not being superb, the whole thing is actually very A++++

+ it's a teen high school show in a high school that's ~alternative and ~liberal and features amy & karma, BFFs who, in an attempt to gain popularity in the school decide to fake being a lesbian couple. of course, shenanigans ensue.

+ the show also features: a gay friend of theirs/amy's who's fun and brilliant, though a bit self centered who has a frenemy lauren, who is a hbic, and also amy's stepsister; liam, karma's love interest, sad artist boy who actually isn't as annoying as it sounds

+ you also get: prom, anti-capitalism, high school rebelling, laverne cox guest starring, canon bisexual, gay, lesbian and intersex characters, silly dancing, lots of girls having complex and diverse relationships with each other, drunken hookups, fun school plots, fun family/parent stuff, a breakfast club inspired detention episode, actual conversations about life, love, sexuality, friendship, etc

i am so flattered that you still listen to it oh my god?? totally inspires me to get back to my latest podfic wip. tell me these things more often, lol. also dude. DO THE PODFIC. it's so fun and annoying lmao, i really love it. and i also think that it's a particularly interesting experience when you're reading english fic out loud as a non-native speaker. idk why but i find that it's a completely different way to confront the language. and just fyi not all writers write as sound-consciously as marta. she's the boss.

I put myself down as a depends just because I will WANT to participate in something, but I have my first ever law school finals in early December so I will either be able to do nothing fannish for like a 3 week period beginning around Thanksgiving or I will want to do EVERYTHING fannish as a panic avoidance activity.

yay for managing being overwhelmed, that's a good thing!

AND AS FOR LITTLE OLD ME

i had exams, a gazillion of them and handled it mostly successfully and am now recovering and waiting for classes to start again. the problem with the exams now that they're over is mostly that they ruined my relatively healthy routine of exercising a bit, getting up early, drinking tea & a general attempt at peace & productivity, which means i've been getting up at 11 am most days, staying up late, not exercising, eating badly and drinking tons of coffee AND not getting any writing done, which sucks, cause i'm actually running late with fics for some exchanges :/ BUT! i plan to start fixing that tomorrow by going to sleep now (2 am, not that bad) and actually getting up before 10 and writing, which, YAY me.

in other news, my BFF & I had a bit of a falling out months ago and have never quite recovered the stability & glory of our BFFing since then, which i also need to start actually fixing, i just need to get off my ass and start doing it

but other than all these things I AM PRETTY GREAT, ALL IN ALL

also me & Kelsey are working on (well, we should be - once again, i'm stalling us :/) on THE BESTEST fic to ever exist, which is a teen wolf/buffy/the vampire diaries/doctor who/the mortal instruments crossover with like 90% girls (being kickass) and 200% lesbians, which i think you'd adore despite not knowing teen wolf
